What We Do

Correcting Cleft Lip & Palate Deformities

Founded in 1998, Operation Rainbow Canada (ORC) is a 100% volunteer, non-profit medical services organization that functions without paid staff.  We have provided free reconstructive surgery and related health care for cleft lip and cleft palate deformities to needy children in developing countries ranging in age from infant to young adult.

A child with a facial cleft deformity develops malnutrition, ear infections, dental problems and difficulty with speech development.  In addition, without corrective surgery, these children born with deformities are often shunned, ostracized, denied schooling and eventually succumb to a solitary life lived in the protection of their homes.

Today, we are aware that the number of children with facial cleft deformities has been addressed and the need has decreased because of additional support from other organizations.

We are now excited to move in a new direction with a different vision.  Our future is to treat cleft lip and palate deformities, as well post burn contractures and hand deformities both in children and adults.  For future missions our selected medical volunteer team will be from Canada.  We are actively seeking sites for host countries that need our services.
