President’s Report

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

It has been a year of reflections as we begin to wrap up 2022.

In September, ORC had a great opportunity to collaborate with the Canada Ukraine Foundation to Katowice in Poland. With the present invasion in Ukraine from Russia, we treated the refugees and soldiers suffering from gunshot wounds & shrapnel’s injuries. There was good collaboration with the local Polish surgeons and doctors who participated with the Ukrainian mission team. A successful outcome. In addition, I was asked to scout for a suitable children’s hospital site for treating injured children.

For the future, there is a possibility of joining hands with the Canada Ukrainian Foundation to help the smaller paediatric cases while the major team would perform facial reconstructive surgery in tandem with the paediatric team from Operation Rainbow Canada.

Early November I was interviewed and featured on Global TV news on ORC and the work in Poland.  I will also have a FM radio interview early December regarding the above mentioned event.

Our planned mission to India and Cambodia was cancelled this year due to unforeseen circumstances.  This was a huge disappointment as the team was ready to go.  

Good news is that we are working on a mission again to the Philippines and possibly at Baru Sahib at the base of the Himalayas in 2023 and 2024.  

I would like to thank the ORC Board of Directors for their continual dedication and work to the cause.   As well, I would like to thank the members and volunteers for their ongoing support.
